Member of Kneecap charged with terror offence | UK News

A member of Irish-language rap group Kneecap has been charged with a terror offence.

Liam O’Hanna, or Liam Og O Hannaidh, has been charged with displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah, a proscribed organisation, the Metropolitan Police said.

The 27-year-old from Belfast – who performs under the stage name Mo Chara – is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 18 June, the force added.

It comes after counter terror police assessed a video reported to be from a Kneecap concert.

The charge relates to a flag that O’Hanna allegedly displayed at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London, on 21 November.

Officers from the Met’s counter terrorism command were made aware of a video from the concert on 22 April, the force said.

An investigation led to the Crown Prosecution Service authorising the charge.
